2026 wage indexation in Luxembourg

Luxembourg’s upcoming wage indexation is welcomed by employees, pensioners, and social benefit recipients, as it helps preserve purchasing power against inflation. However, many employers, especially SMEs, are increasingly concerned about the financial impact of repeated automatic salary increases.

Business owners warn that rising labour costs, combined with higher fuel and material prices, are putting pressure on profitability and competitiveness, particularly compared to neighbouring countries. According to Luxembourg’s Chamber of Commerce, multiple indexations in the same year could significantly reduce companies’ ability to invest and weaken the country’s overall productivity and economic competitiveness.
